Disarm O is a broad-spectrum foliar and drench systemic fungicide that offers control of many troublesome foliar diseases as well as soil-borne diseases such as rhizoctonia and phytophthora. Among the foliar diseases controlled by Disarm O are anthracnose, powdery mildew, rusts, and leaf spots. Disarm O may be used on plants growing in containers, benches, flats, plugs, and beds in greenhouses, shadehouses, nurseries, and interiorscapes. Rigorous testing has shown excellent plant safety.
Disarm O, a member of the strobilurin class of fungicides (MOA Group 11), delivers unique benefits to the grower, notes Jeff Dobbs, OHP director of technical services. “Most strobilurins are strongest as foliar disease control products. Disarm O is not only strong as a foliar disease control product but also offers control of soil-borne diseases as well,” states Dobbs. OHP develops PGR App for Apple iPhone® and iPad®.

OHP Inc. announces the introduction of its first iPhone application – designed for Apple iPhone®, iTouch® or iPad® users. The PGR Calculator Application is available immediately at no charge through the iTunes® Application Store.
“We wanted to develop a tool that takes the guess work out of the equation when it comes to calculating and applying PGRs (Plant Growth Regulants) in the field,” notes Dave Barcel, OHP senior technical manager and PGR expert. “It’s as easy as making a phone call on the iPhone.” PGR Calculator will allow the user to look up current PGR rates in ppm for spray or drench applications. The grower then enters the desired dose and the size of the application area (L x W) or the number of pots for a drench and the App calculates the amounts of solution and product needed. “A simple tool like this takes the guess work out of PGR applications and calibration. It’s easy and accurate,” adds Barcel.
As a new generation of growers begin to adopt technology into their work practices, applications like the PGR calculator will become useful tools, says Dan Stahl, OHP vice president of marketing and business development. The application allows growers to perform rate calculations for the OHP stable of PGRs, including Augeo™, B-Nine®, Cycocel®, and Paczol®.
“The PGR Calculator Application is further evidence of OHP’s stated goal of providing solutions to the ornamental industry,” says Stahl. OHP will continue to seek cutting-edge technologies to improve its communications with growers and distributors, adds Stahl.

OHP introduces Augeo™ – Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) to the production ornamental market
Augeo (pronounced ah’ gee o) is a unique PGR developed to increase lateral branching in both herbaceous and woody plants. Augeo produces thicker, fuller crops with increased side shoots and increased bloom potential. Labeled for use in greenhouses, nurseries, lath and shadehouses, Augeo may be used on perennials, bedding and flowering plants, plugs and liners, trees, shrubs, woody plants, and foliage.
“Some crops have difficulty in developing more branches especially in the very early stages of growth,” notes OHP Senior Technical Manager and PGR Specialist Dave Barcel. “When used properly, Augeo can help with those crops.” Barcel stresses that proper application timing is critical for maximum effectiveness. Generally speaking, the earlier the application, the more consistent the result, notes Barcel. Growers should consult the specimen label for timing instructions.
Unlike traditional PGRs, most of which are giberellic acid (GA) inhibitors, Augeo’s active ingredient dikegulac-sodium induces cell wall collapse. The result is similar to a chemical pinch with decreased apical dominance, increased lower bud initiation, and release of lower buds. “Most PGRs inhibit GA production in the plant,” says Barcel. “Even though we call Augeo a PGR, we know it doesn’t work that way. It is unique in its mode of action.”
OHP plans to continue testing Augeo throughout 2010 and beyond to increase the number of plants on the specimen label. Augeo has a “Caution” signal word and carries a 4-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI).
In addition to Augeo, OHP markets other leading PGRs including B-Nine®. Cycocel®, and Paczol®.

OHP introduces Veranda™ O fungicide to ornamental market
OHP, Inc., a leading marketer of pest control solutions for the production ornamentals market, announces the introduction of Veranda O, a unique fungicide for the grower. Veranda O provides environmentally-friendly control of hard-to-control diseases such as alternaria blight, anthracnose, botrytis, fusarium, powdery mildew, sclerotinia, and rhizoctonia root and crown rot.
Veranda O contains the active ingredient Polyxin, a natural antibiotic and fermentation product of a soil bacterium, according to OHP Director of Technical Services Jeff Dobbs. “In addition to providing control of many problematic diseases, the active ingredient in Veranda O has an extremely favorable toxicological profile,” notes Dobbs. “It has no toxicity to land mammals, insects, or birds, and degrades rapidly – within two to three days — in the environment.” Veranda O is designated as a biochemical fungicide by the United States EPA Bio-Pesticide Division.
Veranda O features a unique mode of action, preventive and curative activity, long-term residual control, and locally systemic activity. As an easy-to-use water dispersible granule (WDG) formulation that leaves little residue, Veranda O may be used in greenhouses, lath and shadehouses, interiorscapes, and field and container nurseries. In addition to ornamentals, Veranda O will soon be labeled for use on cucurbits, fruiting vegetables, pome fruits, and strawberries grown under cover.
Veranda O carries a 4-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI) and a Caution signal word. With the addition of Veranda O, OHP now features 13 fungicide brands in its family of products. OHP introduces Shuttle® O miticide to ornamental market

Shuttle O, with active ingredient acequinocyl, is the only member of Mode of Action (MOA) group #20 (electron transport inhibitors), which makes the product a great addition to any mite control rotational strategies.
